<p>The Titteri  is a historical region in Algeria. It is located in the mountainous area of the southern Tell Atlas in the Atlas Mountains.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>The Titteri was a former administrative division of the Regency of Algiers.</p><br>
<p>It is located in the area of Médéa, stretching across parts ofAïn Defla, Bouïra, Djelfa and M&#39;Sila Province as well. Its northern zone corresponds to the southern slopes of the Blidean Atlas and its southern part reaches the western Bibans. The climat of the area is semi-arid.</p><br>
<p>The highest summit of the range is 1,485 m high Djebel Dirrah (جبل ديرة).</p><br>
<p>Other notable peaks of the Titteri are 1,423 m high Djebel Guern el-Adhaoura (جبل قرن العذاورة),</p><br>
<p>1,416 m high Djebel Kef Lakhdar (جبل الكاف الأخضر) and 1,400 m high Kef Afoul (جبل كاف آفول).</p><br>
<p>The main human groups inhabiting the Titteri area were mainly the Aït Ouzera, the Aït Bou Yaagoub and the Aït Slimane, who spoke the Blidean Atlas variant of the Tamazight language. Beekeeping and cattle-rearing were some of the traditional activities of the region.</p><br>
<p>Southport Historic District is a national historic district located at Southport, Brunswick County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 161 contributing buildings, 3 contributing sites, and 1 contributing object. Over half of the structures in the historic district date from the 1885-1905 period. It includes residential, commercial, and institutional buildings and is considered the best example of a Victorian coastal town in North Carolina. Notable buildings include the River Pilots Tower and Building , Frying Pan Lightship , Fort Johnston Officers Quarters , Walker-Pike House , Brunswick Inn , Fort Johnston Hospital , Former Brunswick County Court House , Saint Philips Episcopal Church , Trinity Methodist Church , and the Adkins-Ruark House .</p><br>
<p>It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<p>The Ouled Naïl Range  is a mountain range in Algeria, part of the Saharan Atlas of the greater Atlas Mountain System. The range is named after a confederation of nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes, all of which claim to hail from Arab ancestors that arrived in the mountains in the eleventh century.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>The Ouled Naïl mountain range is formed by parallel ridges rising between the level 850 m high terrain of the Hodna region of the Hautes Plaines in the north and the 600 m of the southern plain of the Dayas.</p><br>
<p>It is located in the eastern zone of the Saharan Atlas, with the Amour Range in the western and the Zab Range at the eastern end.</p><br>
<p>The range is formed by mountains created by folds of the early Tertiary which remained relatively undisturbed after formation but have been heavily eroded. Their altitude is relatively moderate, the highest point of the range, Djebel Lazrag (جبل الأزرق), not even reaching 1,500 m. However, towards the south the look of the highest ridges is quite spectacular, with jagged sandstone or limestone outcrops and almost vertical walls. The part facing the Sahara has a less encumbered terrain with smooth mountaintops separated by water gaps.</p><br>
<p>The climate is dry in all the surrounding areas, but the rainfall is slightly better on the mountains. Therefore cereal cultivation is possible in the heights, although with rather irregular results. Date palms are mostly absent throughout the range owing to the prevailing cold temperatures. They only grow in the few places at the feet of the Ouled Naïl mountains that are at an altitude below 600 m, such as near Bou Saada and the Oued Djedi.</p><br>
<h2>Human presence</h2><br>
<p>Two important towns are located in the immediate area of the range, Bou-Saada to the north at the feet of the mountains and Djelfa in the middle of the range at an elevation of 1,208 m. North of Djelfa town there is an imposing physical feature known as Rocher de Sel (English: Salt Rock) that was formed from the erosion of rock salts and marls by rain.</p><br>
<p>To the west of the town Megalithic funerary structures are found. Neolithic art is widespread in different caves and walls throughout the range.</p><br>
<p>The range is well known for the Ouled Naïl people living in its cold highlands. Djelfa is an important market centre for the Ouled Naïl who live in black-and-red striped tents and claim ancient Arab descent. These semi-nomadic or nomadic people have traditionally reared cattle in the mountain grasslands. The years of drought and years with prolonged, cold winters are hard times for the Ouled Nail; in 1944 and 1947 about 50% of their livestock died.</p><br>

<p>Trevor Hall is a large grade I-listed Georgian mansion standing in 85 acres  of parkland at Trevor, near Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales.</p><br>
<p>The three storey house was built in 1742 in red brick to an H-shaped floor plan. A pedimented doorcase is approached by a double flight of steps.</p><br>
<p>The estate had belonged to the Trevor family since medieval times and was at one time the home of Bishop John Trevor, who built the original Llangollen Bridge in 1345. The present house was built for John Lloyd of Glanhavon, Montgomeryshire, who in 1715 had married Mary Trevor, heiress of the Trevor estate. A carved stone on the outside of the house has their initials, the date 1742, and the Latin motto Dum spiro spero (whilst I breathe, I hope).</p><br>
<p>Ownership passed to the Rice Thomas family when the last Lloyd heiress married Rice Thomas of Coed Helen near Caernarvon. They extended the house and occupied in until 1820, after which it was let to various tenants, including the manager of the local ironworks, a shipping broker from Liverpool, and ultimately the Edwards family, owners of the Trefynant Fire Clay Works of Ruabon. James Coster Edwards was High Sheriff of Denbighshire in 1892. The Edwards family carried out various improvements designed by Oswestry architect W.H. Spaull and occupied the hall for three generations, after which, in 1956, the property reverted to the Coed Helen estate.</p><br>
<p>They had no use for the house and it was sold to a local timber merchant, who felled the trees and planned to demolish the house. Saved by a Preservation order in 1961, the hall was acquired by the WRVS, but damaged by fire in 1963. It was then purchased by a local farmer and equipped with a flat roof for use as a cowshed.</p><br>
<p>The property was purchased in 1987 by Michael Tree, then a chartered surveyor of the Crown Estates, who undertook its restoration before selling it in 1998 to Louis and Louise Parker, who further restored the grounds and interior. It now functions as a country hotel.</p><br>
<p>The former GWR Hall class locomotive 5998 was named after the hall.</p><br>
<p>The Tilton Island Park Bridge is a foot bridge in Tilton, New Hampshire. It spans a portion of the Winnipesaukee River just east of downtown Tilton, providing access to Tilton Island Park, located on an island in the river. The bridge was manufactured by A. D. Briggs & Company and installed in 1881 by J. R. Smith. It consists of two Truesdell truss spans, which rest on granite abutments and a central granite pier. The bridge is 85 ft in length, and 10 ft wide. Its trusses are made of iron, using a patented design similar to that of Ithiel Town for wooden lattice bridges. The principal innovation in Lucius Truesdell&#39;s patent was the clamps which fix the lattice members together where they cross, providing additional rigidity, and a series of horizontal and vertical members which are integrated into the diagonal lattice members. The bridge was a gift to the town by Charles Tilton.</p><br>
<p>The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<p>The Tilton Downtown Historic District encompasses a roughly one-block section of Main Street  in the center of Tilton, New Hampshire. It extends from Central Street in the west to Bridge and School Streets in the east, including all of the buildings on the north side of this section, and a cluster of buildings on the south side near Bridge Street. The area has long been a commercial and industrial center for the town, although most of the buildings now date from the late 19th century onward, and include a fine array of Victorian architecture. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The area that is now Tilton was part of a colonial land grant made in 1748 and first settled in 1764 as part of Sanbornton. The first bridge in the area over the Winnipesaukee River was built near the site of Tiltons Bridge Street bridge in 1763, and the first sawmill and gristmill opened on the river in 1765-66. The area between the bridge and the mills became what is now Tiltons Main Street. A store was opened near the bridge in 1798, and it is home to Tiltons first church, the 1838 Greek and Gothic Revival Northfield-Tilton Congregational Church, which still stands and is the districts oldest building. The village&#39;s growing economic independence prompted its eventual separation from Sanbornton in 1869.</p><br>
<p>The district incudes a single block of Main Street, which runs roughly east-west, parallel to the Winnipesaukee River. Its eastern boundary is the junction with Bridge Street, where there are two memorials to the towns war dead. It extends westward on the north side of Main Street about 2/3 of the way to Prospect Street, and for a shorter distance on the south side. Prominent buildings include Tiltons town hall, built in 1879-80 as a gift by the town&#39;s major benefactor, Charles E. Tilton. It was probably designed by Edward Dow, who also designed the 1872-73 Trinity Episcopal Church, a fine example of stone Gothic architecture.</p><br>
<p>The Laconia District Court is located at 26 Academy Street  in Laconia, New Hampshire, in a Second Empire brick structure which was built by the city in 1886-87 to house its high school. It was designed by Frederick N. Footman of Boston, though preliminary designs had been obtained from Dow & Wheeler of Concord, New Hampshire. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Laconia District Court is located south of downtown Laconia, on the east side of Academy Street a short way south of Court Street. It is a 2-1/2 story masonry structure, with load-bearing brick walls with granite trim. It is topped by a tall mansard roof and a square belfry with pyramidal roof. The front facade is seven bays wide, with a stepped appearance. A three-bay section, continuing the mansard roof, projects at the center, and the main entrance pavilion, capped by a gabled roof, projects from that. A stone stringcourse separates the first and second floors of the central section, and its second-floor windows are set in recessed panels. The entrance is in a wide round-arch opening, and the bay above has two sash windows, with a recessed decorative half-round panel above.</p><br>
<p>Laconias first high school used the old building of the Gilford Academy, and was by the mid-1880s overcrowded. The present building was completed in 1887. It housed the citys high school students as well as the local district elementary school. It was used by the city as a high school until 1922, and then as the Academy Elementary School until 1975. The building received a major rehabilitation in 1977 and was converted for use as a courthouse at that time.</p><br>
<p>Mount Joy  is a historic slave plantation in Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland, which has a current address of 9097 Executive Park Drive.</p><br>
<p>The farm is located on the original land grant named Chews Resolution Manor. In 1810, Dr. Arthur Pue owned land around modern Route 100. Pue was the family doctor for the Gorman family, who senator Arthur Pue Gorman is named after. The Pue family farmed the property with 19 slaves. In 1851, Samuel Wethered Jr. Purchased 206 acres of farmland, creating "Santa Fe" from Dr. Pue. In 1912, 193 acres of the property was purchased by the Buck Family. On October 10, 1980 the estate was purchased by K&M Development Corporation (Brantly Development Group Corporation) for $532,000. In 2003, Winchester Homes purchased the site.</p><br>
<p>The Main farm building is a L shaped layout built of Brick with a stone foundation, built about 1851. In 2003 the remaining 86 acres of the site was subdivided and outbuilding were demolished for a Winchester Homes Subdivision, leaving the farmhouse remaining. A barn was offered to the Howard County Conservancy to relocate off the historic setting.</p><br>

<p>Tenant Houses (2) - Developer Winchester homes concluded that the wooden lath holding plaster was circular sawn, so the entire house was newer than 1850, and was not worth preservation, although the date of the plaster installation was undocumented.</p><br>
<p>The Tapoco Lodge Historic District encompasses a historic mountain lodge and resort in Robbinsville, North Carolina. The lodge was developed in the 1930s by Tapoco, formerly the Tallassee Power Company, which developed hydroelectric power projects in the area. The lodge and associated cabins were built to provide housing for Tapoco employees working in the area. The main lodge, a 2-1/2 story Colonial Revival structure, was built in 1930, and the facilities were gradually enlarged during the next decade to include a number of guest cabins. Around 1950 a theater, guard house, and other utility buildings were added to the complex. Gazebos and tennis courts were added in the late 1990s.</p><br>
<p>The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.</p><br>
<p>Douglas Ellington House is a historic home located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1926 by architect Douglas Ellington, and is an eclectic stone and brick cottage set into its terraced, hillside site. It consists of a two-bay, 1 1/2-story brick "cottage" under a broad-eaved, wood shingled hip roof; a five-bay, uncoursed stone central block; and a traditional, single-room log cabin, said to have been on the property when Ellington bought it and thought to be over 100 years old.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.</p><br>

<p>Kimball Castle is the former summer estate of railroad magnate Benjamin Ames Kimball. It is located on a prominent hill overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in the town of Gilford, New Hampshire, United States. Although portions of the Kimball&#39;s original 300 acre estate have been subdivided, much of it remains conservation land managed by the town. The 20.1 acre subdivided portion on which the 2-1/2 story medieval-style castle stands is privately owned and no longer part of the Charlotte Kimball trust. Benjamin Kimball, a director of railroad companies operating in the region, built the castle and estate outbuildings beginning in 1894, and used it as his summer estate until his death in 1920, in his home in Concord. The castle was built by Italian stonemasons using local granite and materials imported from Europe; its construction cost was about $50,000.</p><br>
<p>In 1960 Charlotte Kimball, Benjamin Kimballs daughter in law and last remaining heir, died and in her will donated the land to the Mary Mitchell Humane Foundation (an adjunct to the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), to manage the property as a wildlife preserve and sanctuary. Over the next several years, the funds left to carry out the wishes of Charlotte Kimball went missing, and the Mary Mitchell Humane Foundation attempted to sell the entire estate. During this period, the property fell into disrepair and the buildings became subject to extensive vandalism. A group of concerned citizens, led by Sandra McGonagle, petitioned the New Hampshire Attorney Generals office of Charitable Trusts, and an investigation into the missing funds ensued. As settlement of the lawsuit, the Attorney General and the Belknap County Superior Court ordered that the town take over as trustees of Charlotte&#39;s estate and carry out the tenets of her will.</p><br>
<p>The town of Gilford took over as trustees in 1981 under the directives of the court and performed a study as to how best to carry out Charlottes wishes. The master plan recommended that the land be subdivided and a portion of the land, including the castle, be sold to a private party for commercial development with the intent that proceeds of the sales be used to replenish the missing funds and carry out Charlottes wishes of managing the remaining land still held in trust. In 1990 the town and attorney general successfully had the non-commercial stipulation vacated allowing for the sale of the subdivided portion. The town established the Kimball Conservation Committee to oversee the use of those funds, and created a conservation area with hiking trails on the remaining 280 acre of conservation land. Proposals have been made, but not acted on, to develop the castle into a resort hotel.</p><br>
<p>The castle and its associated outbuildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Lockes Hill Hiking trails are accessed via a parking lot and trailhead on Route 11. The 20.1 acres on which all the buildings stand is now private property and is posted with No Trespassing signs and is not open to the public. The castle has been condemned by the town of Gilford as unsafe, and the town has issued a make safe order to the owners requiring them to keep it fenced in until they raze the castle.</p><br>
<p>The Meredith Public Library is located at 91 Main Street in Meredith, New Hampshire. It is housed in a handsome brick Classical Revival structure designed by George Swan and built in 1900-01, with a major expansion in 1985. It was a gift from Benjamin Smith as a memorial to his parents, and is known as the Benjamin M. Smith Memorial Library. The building, one of the town&#39;s most architecturally sophisticated buildings, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.</p><br>
<h2>Architecture and history</h2><br>
<p>The Meredith Public Library stands in the town center of Meredith, on the west side of Main Street opposite its junction with Lake Street. It is set on a rise, and looks over the southern end of the village commercial district. It is a single-story masonry structure with Classical Revival styling. The original main block is a T-shaped structure with a hipped roof and a slightly projecting gable above an entry recessed under a round arch. The building corners are pilastered, and there are bands of elaborate corbelling below the main roof. Windows are typically set in rectangular openings, with stone sills and keystoned lintels. The rear wing is less architecturally sophisticated, but with sympathetic styling. The building interior retains many original features, including panelled wainscoting, and Palladian carved motifs on arches separating sections of the interior.</p><br>
<p>Prior to the construction of this building, Merediths public library was housed in rented quarters. Construction of this building in 1900-01 was funded by Benjamin Smith as a memorial to his parents, with the proviso that the town acquire the land. It was designed by George Swan, and is the second library in New Hampshires Lakes Region that was built in the Classical Revival style.</p><br>
<p>Mascula was an ancient Roman colonia in Numidia. It is called Khenchela in modern Algeria.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Mascula was located in the Aurès Mountains (part of the Atlas Mountains), at 1,200 m above sea level, and has a cool Mediterranean climate: it was one of the coldest cities in Numidia (even now it snows sometimes). The fresh location was chosen by Roman legionaries to retire as veterans.</p><br>
<p>Mascula was built under Trajan and was garrisoned by the "7th company of Lusitanians". It was a castrum (with a nearby vicus) on the military road, that connected Theveste with Sitifis and that followed the slopes of the Aures mountains. Mascula was connected with the fortifications of Tinfadi, Vegesela, Claudi and Tliamugas. Mascula was the most important of these forts from a strategic point of view, because controlled the numidian access to the Sahara.</p><br>
<p>Mascula in the fourth century was at the center of the Donatism controversy, and there are beautiful mosaics discovered from those years There are even some Roman baths from the late third century, still efficiently working after recent restoration.</p><br>
<p>Mascula was even one of the centers of Romano-berber resistance against the Arabs, under queen Kahina. It seems that was renamed -after the Moslem conquest- with the name of one of the daughters of Kahina: Khenchela (meaning "angel" in berber).</p><br>
<p>Sargent Bridge is a Pratt through truss steel bridge that spans the Middle Loup River near Sargent, Nebraska. It is one of the few remaining steel truss bridges constructed in Nebraska during the early 20th century. In 1992, it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>The bridge is a six-panel, Pratt through truss steel bridge. It has two spans that are 120 ft long. When the bridge was completed in 1909, it was reported to be 242 ft long, but on the National Register of Historic Places Registration Form, the reported total length is 136 ft. The bridge width is 18 ft.</p><br>
<h2>History and significance</h2><br>
<p>On March 19, 1908, the Custer County, Nebraska supervisors unanimously approved the construction of the Sargent Bridge.</p><br>
<p>At that time, there was a wooden bridge over the river that was expensive to maintain. Building a steel bridge was viewed as more expensive by the board of supervisors, but in the long run they believed that it would save money on maintenance.</p><br>
<p>Work began on the bridge on November 19, 1908. However, construction on the bridge had been delayed and the starting date was approximately one month after its planned finish. The Standard Bridge Company was commissioned to build the bridge and they were under bond to build the bridge by October 13, 1908, but according to the bond they were only liable for damages and additional expenses if the bridge was not built on time.</p><br>
<p>The bridge was finally completed during the first week of January, 1909, and it was inspected and approved by the county bridge committee.</p><br>
<p>This was the first steel bridge built in Custer County. Nebraska state engineers had estimated the cost at $10,000 ($ today) and the original cost of the bridge by the county supervisors was $5,500 ($ today). However, because of the quicksand in the river bed, bridge supports were sunk 10 ft deeper at an additional cost of $1,500 ($ today), which brought the total cost of the bridge to about $7,000 ($ today).</p><br>
<p>In 1920, the Custer County board of supervisors asked the Nebraska state highway authorities to rebuild the Sargent Bridge to meet state and federal specifications. Funds were never appropriated to rebuild the bridge, but it was subsequently incorporated into US Highway 183. In 1960, the route of the highway was moved a short distance to the east, and the 1909 bridge was closed to public traffic. It was subsequently acquired by the Middle Loup Irrigation District and, as of 1992, it provided non-public access to its diversion dam. As of 1992, the east web of the north truss had broken, but the bridge was still structurally sound.</p><br>
<p>The bridge is considered historically significant because it is one of only a few multiple-span steel truss bridges constructed in the early 20th century that still exist in Nebraska.</p><br>
<p>The Newichawannock Canal is a man-made canal which drains Great East Lake into Horn Pond at the border between Wakefield, New Hampshire, and Acton, Maine, in the northeastern United States. It is at the head of the Salmon Falls River, which the Abenaki called Newichawannock, meaning "river with many falls". Begun in 1850 by the Great Falls Company to increase the water available for its mills in Somersworth, New Hampshire, The canal and bridge, along with related artifacts, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Newichawannock Canal is located between Great East Lake to the north and Horn Pond to the south, on the southern portion of the north-south border between Maine and New Hampshire. The canal is 13 ft wide and about 16 ft deep, and is lined with unmortared stone. An unmortared stone-arch bridge, built at the same time, carries Canal Road over the waterway. Horn Pond is the source of the Salmon Falls River, a tributary of the Piscataqua River, both of which form the New Hampshire-Maine border south of the pond.</p><br>
<p>The Great Falls Company was founded in 1823 to operate textile mills using the water power of the Salmon Falls River at Somersworth, New Hampshire. By about 1860 the mill complex there had grown to include six large buildings and employed 1,500 workers. In order to increase water flow at the mills, the company purchased water rights at Great East Lake and Horn Pond, and began construction of the canal in the 1850s. Other mills, such as Cocheco Woolen Mills in East Rochester, benefited in subsequent decades. The canal was not completed until the 1860s due in part to the Civil War. The canal forms the boundary between the states of New Hampshire and Maine.</p><br>
<p>Chapel of San Ramon (also called the Benjamin Foxen Memorial Chapel and the Sisquoc Chapel</p><br>
<p>) is a chapel and cemetery located in Santa Maria, California in the United States. It is listed on the California Historical Landmarks list and is also the first historic landmark listed by the county of Santa Barbara. It is considered a quality example of "the transition between the architecture of the old missions and the frame churches of the American settlers." It is also one of the first Catholic churches in Santa Maria Valley.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>The property where the chapel reside was owned by the United States Government as of 1872. That year, Frederick and Ramona Foxen Wickenden purchased it. The couple donated the land to be the site for the chapel and a cemetery. The chapel was built in 1875. Prior to it being built, Frederick Wickenden sold 5,000 sheep to buy redwood to build the chapel. Wickenden, his brother Thomas, and Chris Clausen built the chapel. In 1876, the first burial was made in the cemetery, that of Benjamin Foxen, who was related to the Frederick Wickenden. In 1879, the chapel is dedicated by Francisco Mora y Borrell on behalf of Saint Ramon. In 1908, the chapel joined the Parish of Saint Mary. Regular services were canceled that year, and the church was used only for special occasions. In 1936, the chapel receives a new roof and paint. R.E. Easton rededicates the building.</p><br>
<p>In 1950, the Native Daughters of the Golden West declared the chapel as their own historic landmark and called it "Benjamin Foxen Memorial Chapel." Eight years later, the chapel is renovated by Winston Wickenden. He replaced the original foundation, made of wood, with concrete. Then renovations are completed in 1959. In 1966, it was named the first historic landmark listed by the county of Santa Barbara.</p><br>
<h3>Contemporary times</h3><br>
<p>The chapel began to suffer from frequent vandalism and also had structural problems. In 1972, the San Ramon Preservation group was formed to help protect the property from additional vandalism. In January, 1975, the chapel was named to the California Historical Landmarks list. A dedication ceremony was held in August and mass is held by Father Bertin Foxen. Foxen was the great grandson of Benjamin Foxen. December of that year, a gate is installed at the entrance to the grounds and is dedicated as the John W Woolsey Memorial Gate. The organizing body that maintains the property and building, the San Ramon Chapel Preservation Committee (SRCPC) became a non-profit in 1976. Mass begins again weekly in November. Two years later, in 1978, the chapel receives a new roof and glass windows.</p><br>
<p>A new foundation is installed in 1983, and additional renovations take place totaling $12,154. In 1985, the first electric heater is installed in the chapel. Stations of the Cross are installed on site by Drew Crosby in 1986. The next year, SRCPC offers to turn the property over to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. They decline the offer and SRCPC continued to maintain the property. The first water well is installed in 1988. As of 1999, the chapel continued to receive renovations.</p><br>
<p>The Lehoullier Building is a historic mill tenement house at 161-169 Main Street in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Built in 1843, it is one of two surviving tenement houses of the many that once lined Main Street near the Great Falls Manufacturing Company. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Lehoullier Building is located on the west side of Main Street, at its junction with Fayette Street. It is a brick building with a gabled roof and five irregularly placed chimneys. It is set on a sloping lot, presenting three stories to Main Street and two to the rear. It is nine bays wide, representing an original division into three separate townhouse-style units. Each unit has since been further subdivided into two units, for a total of six. The ground floor of each section has a center entrance flanked by paired sash windows. The second-floor units, accessed by a two-story porch, have entrances in either the left or right bay. A hip roof covers the porch, and there are smaller sash windows in the third floor bays.</p><br>
<p>The tenement was built by Thomas Parks and Job Harris c. 1843 under a grant from the Great Falls Manufacturing Company, which operated the major textile mills in Somersworth. It is one of two surviving tenement houses that once lined Main Street, and is, along with the mills themselves, one of the few surviving reminders of the city&#39;s textile manufacturing past. During the 20th century, the building underwent a number of alterations, many of which have since been reversed by restoration. The ground-floor spaces were adapted for commercial use, and the upper-floor exteriors were rearranged to provide access to the upper units from the back of the building.</p><br>
<p>The Milton Town House is a historic civic and religious building at the junction of Town House Road and New Hampshire Route 125 in Milton, New Hampshire. Built in 1803 as a meeting place for civic and religious uses, it has served as Milton&#39;s town meeting site since then. It ceased religious functions in 1855, when it was reduced to a single story. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>

<p>The Milton Town House is located in central eastern Milton, in the middle of the triangular junction of Town House Road and New Hampshire Route 125. It is a single-story wood frame structure, with a gabled roof and clapboarded exterior. There are two entrances on the eastern facade, with flanking windows at a raised elevation, and a central window in the gable above. All of the building&#39;s windows have fully operable shutters that are normally closed when the building is not in use. An iron railing, originally intended as a means to tie up horses, extends around the north and west sides. The interior is finished in knotty pine, with a pressed tin ceiling.</p><br>
<p>The building was originally two full stories, and was built in 1803 (one year after the town was incorporated) to serve as a church and civic meeting space. The town purchased the building in 1855 after the local congregation became divided over religious issues and decided to sell the building. The town reduced it to a single story, and removed its interior religious trappings. The pulpit was reinstalled in 1965, but not at its original location, as a reminder of the building&#39;s religious past.</p><br>
<p>The National Register listing includes a rebuilt copy of the town&#39;s original animal pound, a unique circular fieldstone structure which stands across Route 125. It was built in 1804, rebuilt in 1823, and moved and rebuilt when the highway was widened in 1928. It is one of three surviving stone 19th-century pounds in New Hampshire.</p><br>
<p>The Plummer Homestead is a historic house museum at 1273 White Mountain Highway in Milton, New Hampshire. Built in the 1810s and repeatedly extended, it dates to the early settlement period of Milton, and is, along with the adjacent Plumer-Jones Farm, one of the oldest farm properties in the state. Both are now part of the New Hampshire Farm Museum. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Plummer Homestead is located on the west side of White Mountain Highway (New Hampshire Route 125) in central Milton. It is a typical 19th-century New England connected farmstead, with a main house, "little house", "back house", and barn, extending westward from the road. The main block of the house was originally a 1-1/2 story Cape-style house, which was raised to a full two stories in 1848. An extended seven-bay ell connects this main block to a c. 1870 barn. This cluster of buildings stands on about 20 acre of land, the remnant of a once larger property reduced in part by the construction of the nearby Spaulding Turnpike. Its immediate surroundings are typical of a 19th-century farm layout, with a grassy and slightly more formal front yard, a working main yard on the south side of the building, where entrances to each of the farmsteads sections are located, and the farms vegetable garden, located just north of the farmstead.</p><br>
<p>The main house was built in the 1780s by Beard Plumer, brother of Joseph Plumer who built the adjacent Plumer-Jones Farm, and it was occupied by a succession of Plumer (later Plummer) descendants until the 1990s. It was acquired by the New Hampshire Farm Museum in 1993, which offers tours of the property and uses it in its historical programs.</p><br>
<p>The USA Post Office, also known as the Napa Franklin Station, is the main post office serving Napa, California. The post office was built in 1933 with funding from the Public Works Administration. Architect William H. Corlett designed the Art Deco building. The front facade of the building has three sections; the central section has six bays divided by piers with terra cotta capitals. A terra cotta cornice adorned with ram and cow heads tops the central section. The side sections, which contain the buildings two entrances, feature panels with decorative eagle designs above the doorways and urn-shaped bronze light fixtures on either side. The post offices lobby features a painted bas-relief plastic ceiling, unusual in federally constructed post offices, and a terrazzo floor.</p><br>
<p>The post office was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 11, 1985.</p><br>
<p>The building was damaged by the 2014 South Napa earthquake. The United States Postal Service determined that repairing the building would be too costly and sold it to a developer for $2M. The developer plans to turn the building into a hotel.</p><br>
<p>Mount Kissane  is a mountain in southeastern Morocco, in the region of Drâa-Tafilalet. It is a distinctive mountain located in the Anti-Atlas range along the valley of the Draa River.</p><br>
<h2>Toponymy</h2><br>
<p>The word Kissane كيسان means "glasses" in Arabic and the mountain is so named because it is deemed to look like the glasses of tea behind a tea pot in the Moroccan style of serving tea.</p><br>
<h2>Geography</h2><br>
<p>Mount Kissane is a small rocky mountain range with a synclinal pattern. It has a length of 14 km and a maximum width of about 1.8 km. On the top of the mountain there are two ridges cut by a ravine in the middle. There are several peaks; the highest summit is located at the western end of the range, reaching 1485 m.</p><br>
<h3>Importance in the region</h3><br>
<p>The Jbel Kissane is a characteristic mountain whose shape dominates the eastern landscape of the town of Agdz. Its bare rock takes a variety of pastel hues such as pink, salmon and violet, depending from the angle of the sunlight and the time of the day. It is as well a dominant feature of the panoramic views from nearby villages such as Ouliz, Taliouine, Ait Ali, Tinfoula, Aremd, Tisserghate, Ait el Kharj, Igamodene, Tamnougalt, Talate, Talamzit, Timiderte, Ighrghr and Afra.</p><br>
<h2>Features</h2><br>
<p>Middle Island  is an island off the south coast of Western Australia in the Recherche Archipelago.</p><br>
<p>The island is 6.5 km in length occupies an area of 1,080 hectare and approximately 9 km off shore from Cape Arid. The island is the largest in the Recherche Archipelago.</p><br>
<p>It was named by DEntrecasteaux. Matthew Flinders visited in January 1802 and climbed the 185 m peak (subsequently named Flinders Peak) to survey the surrounding islands.The island contains a pink lake, Lake Hillier, from which John Thistle, the Investigators Master, collected some salt samples.</p><br>
<p>Philip Parker King anchored off the island in 1818 and lost two anchors that were later recovered in 1973. Sealers operated from the island throughout the 1800s.</p><br>
<p>The pirate Black Jack Anderson based himself on Middle Island in the 1820s and 1830s to launch raids on vessels making their way between Adelaide and Albany.</p><br>
<p>The Belinda was wrecked off Middle Island in 1824. In 1826 eight Englishmen who had been marooned on Middle Island by the captain of a sealing vessel Governor Brisbane were found by the French explorer Dumont d’Urville aboard the Astrolabe. The Mary-Jane was wrecked off the island in 1875.</p><br>
<p>In 1889, Edward Andrews investigated the commercial possibilities of producing salt from Lake Hillier, and briefly moved onto the island with both of his sons. They left after working the salt deposits for about one year.</p><br>
<p>The Rodondo was wrecked off the island in 1894 and the Eclipse met a similar fate in 1898.</p><br>
<p>The island supports a population of the tammar wallaby and the bush rat.</p><br>
<p>Lead Run is a tributary of East Branch Fishing Creek in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania. It is approximately 1.5 mi long and flows through Davidson Township. Its watershed has an area of 0.82 square miles. The stream has a low pH and poor water quality, although that could potentially be remedied. The main rock formations in the area are the Catskill Formation, the Huntley Mountain Formation, and the Burgoon Sandstone. The main soil associations in the vicinity of the stream are the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga association, the Norwich association, and the Oquaga association.</p><br>

<p>Lead Run begins in on a plateau in eastern Davidson Township. It flows west-northwest for approximately 0.2 mi before turning southwest and heading into a steep ravine, where it stays for more than a mile. Near its mouth, the stream leaves the ravine and turns south and then east. It then reaches its confluence with East Branch Fishing Creek.</p><br>

<p>The average discharge of Lead Run is 821 gallons per minute. However, it occasionally runs dry for a period of time, especially during the summer. The average pH of the stream is 4.44. The average concentration of aluminum in the stream is 0.301 milligrams per liter.</p><br>
<p>The average alkaline deficiency of Lead Run is 19 lb per day. The stream experiences chronic acidification.</p><br>
<p>The water quality of Lead Run is considered to be "severe", a rating worse than "very poor". The stream also degrades the water quality of East Branch Fishing Creek, although it is not a major contributor of acidity to the creek. Road liming has been suggested as a method of making Lead Run more alkaline. The cost of road liming Lead Run along with the nearby Trout Run is estimated to be $120,000. This restoration is the seventh and final phase of the restoration plan of East Branch Fishing Creek.</p><br>
<p>A total of 1.84 mi of streams (the entirety of every stream in the watershed of Lead Run) are considered to be impaired. The cause of the impairment is atmospheric deposition and metals.</p><br>

<p>The elevation near the mouth of Lead Run is 1,155 ft above sea level. The elevation of the stream&#39;s source is between 2,260 ft and 2,280 ft.</p><br>
<p>The lower reaches of Lead Run lie over rock of the Catskill Formation. The middle portion of the stream is on rock of the Huntley Mountain Formation. The stream&#39;s headwaters are on Burgoon Sandstone.</p><br>
<p>Much of Lead Run is over soil of the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga soil association. However, the upper reaches of the watershed are on soil of the Norwich and Oquaga soil associations. Most of the soil in the watershed is strongly acidic. There are also some rock outcroppings near the stream.</p><br>

<p>The Sawyer Woolen Mills are a historic textile mill complex at 1 Mill Street in Dover, New Hampshire. Built in stages between 1873 and 1939, the mill complex is one of New Hampshire&#39;s most intact mill complexes, reflecting multiple architectural styles which were retained by addition to the complex rather than by the demolition of older buildings. The mills were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>The mill complex occupies 8.5 acre on the banks of the Bellamy River, adjacent to the Spaulding Turnpike south of downtown Dover. It consists of 15 major buildings, two dams, and four bridges. Only three smaller buildings have been destroyed. There are four large mill buildings in which the textile processing took place, lining the banks of the river, two of which are joined by an ell that spans the river. On the east side of the complex are a series of four warehouses. The 1882 office building is one of the finest mill offices in New England of the period, retaining significant interior decorative detail. The designers of most of the mill buildings are unknown, but the office was designed by Charles E. Joy, a local architect.</p><br>

<p>The Sawyer Woolen Mill Company was established in 1824, and are believed to be the third woolen mill in the state. By 1883 it was the largest manufacturer of woolens in the state, a position it held until it was eclipsed by the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company around 1900. The company was founded by Alfred I. Sawyer and operated in the family until 1899, when it went bankrupt and was acquired by the American Woolen Company. The mill complex was operated by American until it was closed and sold off in 1955. In the mid-1980s the complex was converted to residential use.</p><br>
<p>The Queensbury Mill is a historic mill building at 1 Market Street in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Built in 1884, it is unusual for the period for its wood-frame construction, and for its financing, executed by local businessmen to attract shoe manufacturers to the city. The mill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The building has been converted into apartments.</p><br>

<p>The Queensbury Mill is located on the west side of downtown Somersworth, extending along the south side of Winter Street between its junctions with Market and Linden Streets. It is a wood frame structure, 171 ft in length, with a gabled roof, and a full-height brick basement level, providing a full four stories of space. A brick chimney rises near the center of its length, near a projecting stair house which rises above the main roof line.</p><br>
<p>The mill was built in 1884 and enlarged in 1892, and was owned by a consortium of local business leaders. They sought to diversify the city&#39;s economy by attracting shoe manufacturers, who were dealing with a period of labor unrest in the major shoe-producing centers of Massachusetts. Built by local craftsmen, the mill is unusual for its wood-frame construction, which was not the norm for mill buildings of the 1880s, and it lacks other features typically added to these buildings to limit the spread of fire. The building housed a shoe manufacturing operation until 1902, when it was taken over by the Queensbury Mills of Worcester, Massachusetts and converted to yarn production. The initiative to attract shoe manufacturing was broadly successful, however: the Somersworth Shoe Company operated in buildings formerly of the Great Falls Manufacturing Company until 1984.</p><br>

<p>Trout Run is considered to have fair water quality. It could potentially improve the water quality of East Branch Fishing Creek, but not significantly. Proposed methods of increasing the alkalinity of Trout Run include road liming. The cost of road liming Trout Run along with the nearby Lead Run is estimated to be $120,000.</p><br>
<p>A total of 1.8 mi of streams in the watershed of Trout Run are considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired to do atmospheric deposition and metals.</p><br>

<p>The Mynard Road Bridge, now located near Ashland, Nebraska, is a historic Warren truss leg bedstead bridge that was built in 1900. It was probably built by J.R. Sheeley and Company, of Lincoln, Nebraska and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. The 50 ft Mynard Road Bridge was the longest of its engineering type remaining in the state of Nebraska when the historic inventory was done in 1992, and was still used for vehicular traffic at that time. The bridge was originally situated on the Maynard Road and was built to span an unnamed stream, 4.7 mi southeast of Louisville, Nebraska. In 2000, the bridge was relocated to be used as a pedestrian bridge at the Lee G. Simmons Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari.</p><br>
<p>Brahmagiri is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. It is situated in Nashik District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is located near this place. The origin of the sacred Godavari river is near Trimbak. It flows for 1,465 km, first eastwards across the Deccan Plateau then turns southeast, entering the West Godavari district and East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, until it splits into two watercourses that widen into a large river delta and flow into the Bay of Bengal.</p><br>
<h2>Location</h2><br>
<p>Brahmagiri, the hill (giri) of Lord Brahma, appear in many mythological and legendary documents. Legend says that the saint Gautam and his wife Ahalya resided on this hill. Saint Gautam worshiped Lord Shiva to bring Ganga in this hill. This river is known as River Gautami in the Brahmagiri hills.</p><br>
<p>The undulated terrains of Brahmagiri are challenging spots for adventurous travels like nature walk and trekking. There are many trekking trails nestled among the woody trees. The ranges are rich with natural attractions and scenic spots.</p><br>
<p>Brahmagiri hill is considered as a huge form of Lord Shiva and hence the mountain climbing was considered as a sin at that time. In the year 1908, Seth Lalchand Jashodanand Bhambhani of Karachi and Seth Ganeshdas built 500 steps of stone at a cost of Rs. 40,000. This has facilitated easy access to Brahmagiri. The water flows in three directions on the mountain. The one flowing towards east becomes Godavari river, one flowing towards the south is Vaitarna river and the one flowing towards the west is called the west-flowing Ganga and meets Godavari near Chakra Tirth. River Ahilya meets Godavari in front of the Trimbakeshwar temple. Childless families worship at the Ahilya sangam and it is believed that they do get a child.</p><br>
<p>The first peak of Sahyadri is called Brahmadri. The story associated with this is that Shankar was pleased with Brahmadev and said “I shall be known by your name”. Hence it is called as Brahmagiri. The mountain is 1800 feet high. Its height from sea level is 4248 feet. Five peaks of this mountain are called Sadyo-Jata, Vamdev, Aghora, Ishana and Tat-Purusha and are considered as five mouths of the Lord Shiva and they are worshipped.</p><br>
<h2>Brhahmagiri hill</h2><br>
<p>Brahmagiri (1298 meters)is to the west of trambakeshwar and this fort offers a commanding view of the Jawhar Mokhada region of Thane district. Trimbakeshwar itself is a place of worship because it is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.</p><br>
<p>From Trimbakeshwar, through regular steps, Ganga dwar is reached and the Gorakshanath cave which is end of Trimbakeshwar. Now again while climbing down, there is a road going towards Brahmagiri towards right. Following this route one reaches the carved steps in the rocks. The steps are very good even in the recent times. They were blown off by Britishers in 1818 but later on, they were rebuilt somewhere before India gained independence. From the base village, Brahmagiri is around 450 to 500 meters elevated</p><br>
<p>From base village, it takes 45 minutes to see Ganga dwar, the Gorakshanath caves and 108 Swayambhu Mahadev caves and in the halfway while descending, the road towards Brahmagiri takes you till the top in around 45 minutes and almost 2 hours to see the fort completely. There are 2 temples on this fort the place which is believed to be the origin point of Godavari river. From here, the river flows till Ganga dwar and then towards Kushavart teerth in Trimbakeshwar village.</p><br>
<p>One can reach this place by an ascent of about 750 steps made on concrete. There is a shrine dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The river appears here as coming out from the mouth of Nandi. Kolambika Devi temple and a group of 108 shivalings are seen nearby.</p><br>

<p>The Pompano Beach Mound, located at Indian Mound Park in Pompano Beach, Florida in Broward County, is a 100 ft wide, 7 ft tall oval Tequesta burial mound. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>The mound sits at the southeast edge of Pompano Beach on the western shore of a long narrow Atlantic coast barrier island. The surrounding area is a heavily developed, densely populated mixed use residential neighborhood. In prehistoric times the site was a tropical hardwood hammock opposite Lake Santa Barbara at the mouth of Cypress Creek. The eastern side would have been protected from the Atlantic Ocean by sand dunes and the associated vegetation. At the base of the mound is a six-inch layer of "black dirt and shell with refuse", a likely indication that it was built atop a seasonal camp or village that had been inhabited before the mound was built.</p><br>
<p>The Tequesta, valuing their dead, placed them in a special place to decompose, then cleaned and prepared the bones for interment in a burial mound. A 1938 excavation unearthed a wooden figure dating to 700 CE; One of 20 to 50 burial mounds erected by the Tequesta in central to southern Florida, it is the only surviving Indian burial mound in urban Broward County. Artifacts discovered near the mound suggest the associated village may have been in existence as late as 1763 CE. <h2>Modern times</h2><br>
<p>Around 1895 the area near the mound was farmed by James W. Pearce, who had settled there. Its designation as a park in 1926 marks it as an early example of historic preservation in Florida. Known as the "Pompano Beach Indian Mound", it has been studied extensively by amateur and professional archeologists since 1929. Artifacts from the site are curated at the Smithsonian Institution and the Florida Museum of Natural History. The first excavation of the mound by a formally trained archeologist was conducted in 1937 by John Mann Goggin. Goggin&#39;s work at the mound contributed to his development of a timeline of the cultures of Florida and was important in establishing his career as an archeologist.</p><br>
<p>In 1938 a study of the mound, supervised by William C. Orchard, was financed by the Heye Foundation Museum of the American Indian. Orchard excavated and removed most of a small check stamped bowl, a shell cup and bead, part of a shell celt, part of a stone celt, most of an iron knife and some pottery sherds. Orchard also removed the human burials remains of one individual. Orchard&#39;s permission to excavate was withdrawn by the city following objections from the local community. The remains were reported by the National Park Service in 2010 and will be repatriated to the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.</p><br>
<p>Human burial remains were also unearthed in 1940 by a permitted excavation and by looting. Between 1946 and 1954 Orin Fogle excavated and removed a Busycon pick, a Strombus celt, a bone awl, a fragment of fossilized bone and a collection of pottery sherds. Fogle also removed bones from at least seven individual human burials. He sold his collection from the mound to the Florida Museum of Natural History. As a part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the City of Pompano Beach in 1958, the site was rededicated as a park for historical preservation and two historical markers were placed. At that time it was also designated a rare bird sanctuary.</p><br>
<p>Archeologist Robert S. Carr surveyed the site in 1974, noting a second smaller mound nearby. When Carr returned for another survey in 1993 he noted the smaller mound had been destroyed by residential construction. In 2003 Christopher Eck surveyed the site and conducted limited excavations near the mound to evaluate the impact of community plans to replant some native coastal hammock plants and trees.</p><br>
<p>The first published mention of the site was possibly in an 1887 book, The East Coast of Florida: A Descriptive Narrative, written by J.M. Hawks about a journey made by the author in 1869. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.</p><br>
<p>The Sanbornton Square Historic District encompasses the historic center of Sanbornton, New Hampshire. The town, granted in 1748 and incorporated in 1777, is the mother town of Franklin and Tilton, and was one of the first to be established by the Masonian proprietors. Unlike towns settled earlier, no specific plan was made for a town center, with the result that Sanbornton Square arose organically as the principal site of civic and religious life in the town. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<p>The historic district is centered on a stretch of New Hampshire Route 132, between Tower Hill Road and Gulf Road, and radiates for a short distance along a number of secondary roads that meet there. Its western bound is roughly Gulf Brook. The oldest surviving element of the original town is the old cemetery, which lies at the northern end of the district. The present church and town hall both date to c. 1834. These two buildings, along with the 1825 Woodman-Sanborn Academy building, are the major civic structures in the district. The rest of the district is residential, with a number of houses dating to the late 18th century, and most of the remaining buildings dating to the first half of the 19th century. Federal and Greek Revival styling predominate in the district; most of these buildings are wood frame structures with clapboard siding.</p><br>
<p>The Benjamin Rowe House is a historic house museum at 88 Belknap Mountain Road in Gilford, New Hampshire. Probably built in the 1830s, it is one of the town&#39;s best-preserved period houses. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Benjamin Rowe House stands at the southern edge of Gilford&#39;s town center, on the east side of Belknap Mountain Road. It is located within a loop of the access road for the Gilford Elementary School, and is oriented with its main facade to the south and a side gable to the street. It is a single-story Cape style house built of brick, with a wood-frame ell to the rear. It is five bays wide and four deep, with a central entrance flanked by sidelight windows and topped by a granite lintel. Four slender chimneys pierce the brick roof. A wood-frame ell extends to the north, and a hip-roof porch with bracketed posts is on the street side. The interior retains original 19th-century woodwork and hardware, including fireplace surrounds, doors, and door latches.</p><br>
<p>The house was probably built in the 1830s, and remains one of the town&#39;s best-preserved 19th-century Cape style houses. It underwent a number of alterations, particularly in the early 20th century when the property was in active use as a dairy farm, but these were removed when the building underwent a comprehensive restoration to its original 19th-century appearance in the 1990s. The town purchased the farm in 1970, and briefly housed town offices in the house during the 1980s. It now houses a local history museum.</p><br>
<p>The John J. Morrill Store is a historic store and Grange hall on Belknap Mountain Road in the central village of Gilford, New Hampshire. Built in the late 1850s, it is a well-preserved example of a period general store with Greek Revival features. The building has also served as the local post office and as a Grange hall. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The former Morrill Store building is located in the center of Gilford village, at the northwest corner of Belknap Mountain Road and Potter Hill Road. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame clapboarded structure with a gable roof. It is predominantly Greek Revival in style, with pilastered corner boards, and with entablatures and friezes above. A shed-roof porch extends across the main facade, supported by simple brackets. The first floor of the facade has two entrances: a nearly central double-leaf entry flanked by display windows, and a single-leaf entry at the left side, which provides access to the upper floors. A two-story frame addition extends to the left of the main block, with a 1-1/2 story addition extending further from that.</p><br>
<p>The structure was built as a general store in the late 1850s by John Morrill, but the business only lasted a few years. For this use, the ground floor served as the shop, and the upper floor was a storeroom. It served for many years as the local post office, and was purchased by the local Grange organization in 1909. That organization made a series of interior alterations to facilitate its use, converting the retail space into a kitchen and dining hall. In later years it added modernizations, including a modern heating plant. In the 1950s the end wing was adapted for use by the Junior Grange.</p><br>
<p>Kingston Russell Stone Circle, also known as the Gorwell Circle, is a stone circle located between the villages of Abbotsbury and Littlebredy in the south-western English county of Dorset. Archaeologists believe that it was likely erected during the Bronze Age. The Kingston Russell ring is part of a tradition of stone circle construction that spread throughout much of Britain, Ireland, and Brittany during the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, over a period between 3,300 and 900 BCE. The purpose of such monuments is unknown, although archaeologists speculate that they were likely religious sites, with the stones perhaps having supernatural associations for those who built the circles.</p><br>
<p>A number of these circles were built in the area around modern Dorset, typically being constructed from sarsen stone and being smaller than those found elsewhere. The Kingston Russell ring is the largest of those in Dorset, measuring 24 by 27 metres (79 feet by 89 feet) in diameter and containing eighteen sarsen stones arranged in an oval shape. The site has not been excavated or been subject to in-depth archaeological investigation.</p><br>
<h2>Location</h2><br>
<p>Positioned at the national grid reference 35770878, Kingston Russell Stone Circle is located on a chalk ridge that is west of Portesham, overlooking Abbotsbury and the sea. The site is located on open downland at a height of 189 metres (620 feet) above sea level.</p><br>
<p>The historic house of Kingston Russell is about 1.6 kilometres to the north. The ruined burial chamber known as The Grey Mare and her Colts is a short distance to the southeast.</p><br>
<p>The site is also known as the Gorwell Circle, a name adopted from Gorwell Farm to the south. It can be approached via a footpath from near to Gorwell Farm. It is most visible when the grass around it is cut short, for the stones are obscured when the grass grows longer.</p><br>
<p>The site is a scheduled monument, and thus accorded legal protection under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979.</p><br>
<h2>Context</h2><br>
<p>While the transition from the Early Neolithic to the Late Neolithic—which took place with the transition from the fourth to the third millennium BCE—witnessed much economic and technological continuity, it also saw a considerable change in the style of monuments erected, particularly in southern and eastern England. By 3000 BCE, the long barrows, causewayed enclosures, and cursuses which had predominated in the Early Neolithic had ceased being built, and were instead replaced by circular monuments of various kinds. These include earthen henges, timber circles, and stone circles. These latter circles are found in most areas of Britain where stone is available, with the exception of the island&#39;s south-eastern corner. They are most densely concentrated in south-western Britain and on the north-eastern horn of Scotland, near Aberdeen.</p><br>
<p>These stone circles typically show very little evidence of human visitation during the period immediately following their creation. This suggests that they were not sites used for rituals that left archaeologically visible evidence, and may have been deliberately left as "silent and empty monuments". The archaeologist Mike Parker Pearson suggested that in Neolithic Britain, stone was associated with the dead and wood with the living. Other archaeologists have suggested that the stone might not represent ancestors, but rather other supernatural entities, such as deities.</p><br>
<p>The area of modern Dorset has only a "thin scatter" of stone circles, with nine possible examples known within its boundaries. The archaeologist John Gale described these as "a small but significant group" of such monuments, and all are located within five miles (eight kilometres) of the sea. All but one—Rempstone Stone Circle on the Isle of Purbeck—are located on the chalk hills west of Dorchester. The Dorset circles have a simplistic typology, being of comparatively small size, and that at Kingston Russell is the largest. All are oval in shape, although perhaps have been altered from their original form. With the exception of the Rempstone circle, all consist of sarsen stone. Much of this may have been obtained from the Valley of Stones, a location at the foot of Crow Hill near to Littlebredy, which is located within the vicinity of many of these circles. With the exception of the circle at Litton Cheney, none display evidence of any outlying stones or earthworks around the stone circle.</p><br>
<p>The archaeologists Stuart and Cecily Piggott believed that the circles of Dorset were probably of Bronze Age origin, a view endorsed by the archaeologist Aubrey Burl, who noted that their distribution did not match that of any known Neolithic sites. It is possible that they were not all constructed around the same date, and the Piggotts suggested that while they may well be Early Bronze Age in date, it is also possible that "their use and possibly their construction may last into the Middle and even into the Late Bronze Age".</p><br>
<p>Their nearest analogies are the circles found on Dartmoor and Exmoor to the west, and the Stanton Drew stone circles to the north. It is also possible that the stone circles were linked to a number of earthen henges erected in Dorset around the same period.</p><br>
<h2>Description</h2><br>
<p>Kingston Russell is the largest surviving stone circle in Dorset. The stones are arranged in an oval with a diameter measuring from 24 by 27 metres (79 by 89 feet).</p><br>
<p>The ring consists of eighteen stones, the longest of which are located at the north of the circle. As of 1939, all the stones were lying on the ground, although there is a record that in 1815 one stone on the southern side was still standing upright. The Piggotts suggested that while the circle retained its full number of original megaliths, some of them might have been moved from their original positions. It is possible that the ring was graded in height, with the tallest stones being located on the north.</p><br>
<p>The stones are made of sarsen or conglomerate.</p><br>
<p>Some of the stones are broken, and it is impossible to tell which fragments are bases and which were originally upper parts. The stones vary in size from 2 metres by 0.5 metres (7 feet by 1.6 feet) to 1 metre by 0.3 metres (3 feet by 1 foot).</p><br>
<p>In 1980, it was stated that a stone was "supposed" to have been added to the circle "in recent years".</p><br>
<p>The antiquarian John Hutchins mentioned the circle in his 1774 work The History and Antiquities of Dorset. Influenced by the ideas of fellow antiquarian William Stukeley, Hutchins described the Kingston Russell ring as a "druidical circle", thereby attributing its creation to the Iron Age druids. As of 2003, the site had not been excavated by archaeologists or extensively studied. The site is on privately owned land although is accessible to the public.</p><br>
<p>Big Run is a tributary of East Branch Fishing Creek in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately 2.4 mi long and flows through Davidson Township. Its watershed has an area of 1.38 square miles. The stream has a low pH and poor water quality, although that could potentially be remedied. The main rock formations in the area are the Catskill Formation, the Huntley Mountain Formation, and the Burgoon Sandstone. The main soil associations in the vicinity of the stream are the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga association, the Oquaga association, and the Norwich association.</p><br>
<h2>Course</h2><br>
<p>Big Run begins in eastern Davidson Township. It flows east for a short distance, nearly reaching the border between Sullivan County and Luzerne County. It then turns north, entering a valley. Once inside the valley, the stream turns west and then southwest, as the valley gets deeper. After less than a mile, the stream turns northwest and leaves the valley. It then merges with Sullivan Branch to form East Branch Fishing Creek.</p><br>
<h3>Tributaries</h3><br>
<p>Big Run has two unnamed tributaries. These are known as Unt 28011 and Unt 28012. Both are considered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to be impaired by atmospheric deposition.</p><br>
<h2>Hydrology</h2><br>
<p>The average discharge of Big Run is 1404 gallons per minute. The average concentration of aluminum in the stream is 0.167 milligrams per liter.</p><br>
<p>The pH of Big Run during average flow conditions is 5.61. Its pH ranges from less than 3 to nearly 7. The stream experiences episodic acidification.</p><br>
<p>Big Run is considered to have "good" water quality during average flow conditions, but "severe" water quality during high flow conditions. The stream does not require any additional alkalinity to be restored to the satisfaction of the East Branch Fishing Creek Restoration Plan. Proposed methods of restoring the water quality of Big Run include in-stream limestone sand dosing and road liming.</p><br>
<h2>Geography and geology</h2><br>
<p>The elevation near the mouth of Big Run is 1,358 ft above sea level. The elevation of the stream&#39;s source is between 2,240 ft and 2,260 ft.</p><br>
<p>The area near the mouth of Big Run is on rock of the Catskill Formation. Most of the rest of the stream is on rock of the Huntley Mountain Formation, but its headwaters are on Burgoon Sandstone.</p><br>
<p>Most of Big Run is on soil of the Deep-Wellsboro-Oquaga soil association. However, the headwaters of the stream are on soil of the Oquaga and Norwich associations. Rock outcroppings are also present near the stream. Most of the soils in the watershed are strongly acidic.</p><br>
<h2>Watershed</h2><br>
<p>The watershed of Big Run has an area of 1.38 square miles. There are 2.5 mi of streams in the watershed.</p><br>
<p>Part of Big Run is on private lands.</p><br>
<p>Big Run and its two unnamed tributaries are designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for use by aquatic life.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>The restoration of Big Run is part of the fifth phase of the East Branch Fishing Creek Restoration Plan. This phase of the plan is estimated to cost $200,000.</p><br>
<p>Big Run was listed as by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection as impaired in 2002. As of December 2011, a total maximum daily load is scheduled for the stream in 2015.</p><br>
<p>Greenbooth Reservoir is a reservoir to the north of Heywood and close to Norden in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, within Greater Manchester, England.</p><br>
<p>In 1846, Heywood Waterworks Company finished constructing the Naden Reservoirs (Lower Naden, Middle Naden and Higher Naden) in the valley above the village of Greenbooth. By the 1950s, the village consisted of around 80 cottages, a sweet shop, a Co-op store and a school. There was also a woollen mill.</p><br>
<p>In 1958, Heywood and Middleton Water Board decided that another reservoir was needed to supply water to the growing population of Rochdale and started construction of Greenbooth Reservoir that same year. It took over two years to build, with the village abandoned, mostly demolished and then submerged. The reservoir was completed in 1961 and officially opened in August 1965.</p><br>
<p>The only visible reminder of Greenbooth village today is a plaque on the side of the reservoir dam wall which reads: "This tablet commemorates the village of Greenbooth, the site of which is submerged beneath the waters of this reservoir."</p><br>
<p>The four reservoirs are in a peaceful area for a country walk with good views of Manchester in the distance. Some of the wind turbines of Scout Moor Wind Farm are also visible from the surrounding paths.</p><br>
<p>Aji Island is an island in the Pacific Ocean, southwest of the Oshika Peninsula and in Miyagi Prefecture of Japan.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Tools have been excavated on the island that would suggest there has been human settlement for at least 2000 years. Aji Island is one of the first locations that marked a regular relationship between Japan and Russian when the local citizens traded with a Russian expedition.</p><br>
<h2>March 2011 earthquake</h2><br>
<p>The epicenter of the major Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March 2011 was located off the coast of Aji Island and Miyagi Prefecture. The Tōhoku region, including Aji island, suffered serious damage and further reduced the number of residents on an island already suffering from depopulation. The locals are now trying to rebuild the island and increase population levels.</p><br>
<p>Agriculture is the main focus of the island&#39;s rejuvenation. Locals encourage agriculture and many of them have worked the fields themselves. The goal is for local farmers to make a living with their agriculture.</p><br>
<h2>Principal products</h2><br>
<p>Produce grown on the island includes sweet potatoes. With an aging population doing the farming, it is difficult to find young people who want to take up the profession. The Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami was devastating to the islands economy. An organization called "ABE" was formed, with the "A" standing for agriculture and the "BE" standing for benefit. It is also a play on words and means "Lets Go". A representative of ABE, Abe Takahiro, has said that it is through agriculture that the island will be revitalized and the goal of the organization is self-sufficiency through agriculture.</p><br>
<p>A variety of fish and seafood are harvested in the waters around the island, including salmon and sea urchin. On July 4, 2014, the sale of Ginzake salmon caught in local waters was reallowed. It was first allowed in 2007 and proved to be popular and profitable. After the 2011 earthquake, it was stopped.</p><br>
<h3>Medical care</h3><br>
<p>There is only one hospital on Aji Island: Amishoiin. It is a former primary school that was convented for medical care.</p><br>
<p>Caring for a rapidly aging population requires consistent medical care and running the hospital is a challenge, despite the need.</p><br>
<p>The Monument Square Historic District of Alton, New Hampshire, encompasses the 19th-century heart of the town, a roughly triangular open space formed by the junction of Main Street  and Old Wolfeboro Road between Factory Street and Church Street. It is notable for its well-preserved 19th-century buildings, and for its relatively uncommon shape, born out of the area&#39;s origin as a major road junction. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>In 1722, the legislature of the Province of New Hampshire ordered the construction of a road between Dover and the Lakes Region west of Lake Winnipesaukee. Altons downtown Main Street follows the route of that road. The Wolfeboro Road was also an 18th-century road, built to provide access to Wolfeboro on the east side of the lake. These two roads met at an acute angle, which developed in the 19th century to become Altons town center. Early development took place south of this junction, but the area became important in 1830 with the construction of the Cocheco Hotel, which stands at the northern end of the district. The advent of railroad service to the village brought further changes, including the rerouting of the Wolfeboro Road away to the north. The town, however, decided in 1893 to build its Romanesque town hall on the east side of the former Wolfeboro Road alignment, and subsequent development has included the construction of the Colonial Revival Gilman Museum.</p><br>
<p>The district is bounded on the north by the former Cocheco Hotel (now housing other businesses) and Factory Street (New Hampshire Route 140), and is bounded on the south by Depot and Church Streets. The triangular "square" is mostly paved, with small triangular grassy areas on which monuments to the towns military service members are located. There are eleven buildings in the district, most of which face toward the square. In addition to the town hall, hotel, and museum, there are a few residences and three commercial buildings. The Greek Revival White Lodge, built in the 1850s, is one of Altons finest period residences.</p><br>
<p>The Washington Mooney House is a historic house on New Hampshire Route 104, near its junction with New Hampshire Route 132 and Interstate 93, in New Hampton, New Hampshire. Built c. 1800, this two story wood frame house is one of the finest surviving Federal period houses in the town. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Washington Mooney House stands in central New Hampton, on the north side of New Hampshire Route 104, just east of the northbound I-93 onramp. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a side gable roof, central chimney, and clapboarded exterior. Its main facade is five bays wide, with a symmetrical arrangement. The main entrance is at the center, with an entrance surround of sidelight windows flanked on both sides by narrow pilasters, and a projecting cornice above. The interior follows a fairly typical central chimney plan, with a narrow vestibule that has a winding staircase in front of the chimney, parlor spaces on either side, and the kitchen extending across most of the rear. The interior retains original floorboards, wainscoting, and interior window shutters, and includes paneled fireplace surrounds in the parlors.</p><br>
<p>Its builder is unknown; the house and associated farm property were probably purchased by Washington Mooney around the time of his 1831 marriage. Despite adaptive reuse of the property in the 20th century for office space, and a succession of owners, the basic fabric of the building has remained little altered. The building is locally distinctive for its particularly fine entrance surround and central hall.</p><br>
<p>The New Hampshire Veterans Association Historic District encompasses a large cluster of late 19th-century summer resort properties in the Weirs Beach area of Laconia, New Hampshire, United States. The district is a nearly 8 acre area developed by the New Hampshire Veterans Association, which was formed to support summer reunions of veterans of the American Civil War. Over the following decades the group expanded its range to encompass veterans from all of the United States&#39; war efforts. The architecture of the resort area the association developed is distinctive, as the resort houses were built to accommodate entire regiments. The district includes 18 buildings, five of which front on Lakeside Avenue and have expansive views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the Weirs Beach area. Most of the remaining buildings are located on Veterans Avenue, which runs roughly parallel to, and behind, Lakeside Avenue. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<p>The New Hampshire Veterans&#39; Association was founded in 1875, and began holding reunions at Weirs Beach the following year. These were held on land owned by the Concord and Montreal Railroad (later the Boston and Maine), which was only purchased by the association in 1924. From the mid-1880s into the 1890s regimental organizations built predominantly Queen Anne-styled buildings to quarter the reunion attendees and to facilitate their activities.</p><br>
<p>The association&#39;s land also has archaeological importance. It encompasses a portion of what was once the Native American village of Aquadoctan, one of the largest settlements in the state with a long prehistoric and historic record. Areas adjacent to this property are also listed on the National Register for their archaeological significance.</p><br>
<p>Arcade Building, also known as The Grove Arcade and Asheville Federal Building, is a historic commercial building located at Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. It was built in 1926-1929, and is a Tudor Revival / Late Gothic Revival style building consisting of two stacked blocks. The lower block is a rectangular slab with rounded corners; it is capped by the second block, a two-tier set-back.</p><br>
<p>The steel frame and reinforced concrete building was designed to serve as a base for an unbuilt skyscraper. It features a roof deck with a bronze semi-elliptical balcony, molded terra cotta pilasters, and a ziggurat-like arrangement of huge ramps to the roof deck. The building occupies a full city block and housed one of America&#39;s first indoor shopping malls. It was sold to the federal government in 1943. The building housed the National Climatic Data Center until 1995.</p><br>
<p>It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is located in the Downtown Asheville Historic District.</p><br>
<p>Union Station, also known as Columbia Railway Depot is an historic train depot in the city of Columbia, Maury County, Tennessee. The depot was completed in 1905 by the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway  and the Louisville and Nashville Railroad  as a union station. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Maury County, Tennessee on October 23, 1986.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>The Duck River Valley Narrow Gauge Railroad (NGRR) was chartered in 1870 and began construction in Columbia in 1874. By 1876, six miles were completed with the first 1.75 miles ran as a dual gauge on the then Nashville and Decatur (Louisville and Nashville) main line. By 1877 NGRR offered rail service from Columbia to Lewisburg (20 miles) and to Petersburg (34 miles) by 1879. The company ran into financial difficulties and in 1879 leased the tracks to NC&StL. The line was completed to Fayetteville (48 miles) on March 16, 1882, where there was a break-of-gauge. NC&StL purchased the line on March 21, 1888, converted the entire tracks to standard gauge by January 1, 1889, and the tracks were renamed the Columbia spur.</p><br>
<h2>Union Station</h2><br>
<p>NC&StL and LN built Union Station in 1905, and the depot was shared with LN until 1945 when the Columbia to Lewisburg tracks were abandoned. The Lewisburg to Fayetteville section was abandoned in 1961. Union Station was listed on the Tennessee Preservation Trust, "Ten in Tennessee" list of endangered properties in 2009. The building was used for offices and apartments but became vacant in 1983. David and Debra Hill bought the property in foreclosure in 2012 with plans on restoration</p><br>
<p>The Hall Cabin, also known as the J. H. Kress Cabin is a historic log cabin in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about 15 mi from Fontana, North Carolina. The cabin is a rectangular split-log structure 24 ft wide and 17 ft deep, with a porch spanning its front. The gable ends of the roof are sheathed in board-and-batten siding. It was built by a man named Hall in 1910, and underwent some remodeling around 1940 when J. H. Kress used it as a hunting lodge. It is located in the drainage of Hazel Creek, an area which historically had a small population and was abandoned after the construction of Fontana Lake and the national park. It is the only structure remaining in its immediate vicinity.</p><br>
<p>The cabin was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.</p><br>
<p>Tell Judaidah  is an archaeological site in south-eastern Turkey, in the province of Hatay. It is one of the largest excavated ancient sites in the Amuq valley, in the plain of Antioch. Settlement at this site ranges from the Neolithic  through the Byzantine Period.</p><br>
<h2>Excavations</h2><br>
<p>The first excavations at Tell Judaidah began in the 1930s, conducted by the American archaeologist James Breasted of the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.</p><br>
<p>Excavations were continued by Robert Braidwood, and revealed the existence of human settlements in the Amuk valley in the Neolithic period as early as 6,000 BC. Rich discoveries of pottery helped to establish the sequence of successive ceramic shapes in the areas of the Eastern Mediterranean.</p><br>
<p>Archaeological discoveries at Tell Judaidah included crucibles with tin rich copper encrustations, indicating a very early use of advanced metallurgical techniques around 4500 BC, including the use of metal alloys.</p><br>
<p>Excavations in 1995 revealed the remains of a thick (1.5 m) wall of mud bricks on stone foundations, dating to the fourth millennium BC.</p><br>
<p>Very early bronze statuettes were discovered here dating to the period of 3400-2750 BC. These are known as Amuq G figurines.</p><br>
<p>Wheel-made Plain Simple Ware was also discovered dating to the same Amuq G period.</p><br>
<h2>Tell Dhahab</h2><br>
<p>Tell Dhahab is located in near proximity to Tell Judaidah and is associated with it. It was excavated in 1938 in conjunction with the original Chicago expedition to Tell Judaidah. <h2>Geography</h2><br>
<h3>Localization</h3><br>
<p>Landaa Giraavaru is one of the Maldive Islands, located in the northeast of Baa Atoll. Surrounded by a white sand beach and a wide coral reef, its waters are quiet and shallow, and shelter an important biodiversity.</p><br>
<p>The closest inhabited islands are Kamadhoo in the southeast and Kudarikilu in the northwest, but there are also numerous desert islands around, such as Thiladhoo, Milhaidhoo or Madhirivaadhoo in the south, which offer as many diving sites with a spectacular biodiversity.</p><br>
<h3>Relief and morphology</h3><br>
<p>Landaa Giraavaru is approximately 600 meters in length from east to west, and 200 meters at its maximum width; its maximum height does not exceed 2 meters. It mostly consists of sand, which makes it a motu. The beaches that surround the island are protected by a coral reef that stretches westward, in a relatively long and little wave-cut platform made of sand and coral rubble.</p><br>

<h3>Terrestrial biodiversity</h3><br>
<p>The island of Landaa Giraavaru is covered with dense tropical vegetation, including in particular takamakas, coconut palm trees and screwpines. This vegetation shelters many animal species such as geckos, frigate birds, crabs, hermit crabs, dragon lizards, butterflies and dragonflies. It is also inhabited by a big ground bird, the white-breasted waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus), as well as by numerous giant Indian flying foxes (Pteropus giganteus). All these animals are perfectly harmless.</p><br>
<h3>Marine biodiversity</h3><br>
<p>The island is located inside the "Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere reserve" designated by the UNESCO in 2011. Its shallow waters, particularly rich in coral, fish and an important population of whale sharks and manta rays have gained the atoll a reputation for exceptional diving. The ecosystem is characterized by a very high cover rate coral, very diverse and dominated by several species of tabular, branching or digitate corals of the genus Acropora. In addition to a high number of pelagics, the surrounding waters shelter many large marine animals such as sea turtles, dolphins, moray eels, tuna and groupers.</p><br>
<p>This atoll is also famous for welcoming important populations of spectacular big animals such as whale sharks and manta rays.</p><br>
<h3>Conservation</h3><br>
<p>The resort shelters its own "Marine Discovery Centre" welcoming several full-time biologists, scientific divers and researchers, managed by local environmental organization Seamarc/Marine savers. Particular projects of focus include the care and rehabilitation of wounded animals (turtles, cetaceans), surveys of the local macrofauna (turtles, rays, whale sharks) and set up an ambitious program of reimplantation of coral in damaged areas (known onsite as Reefscapers), mostly funded by tourists. The MDC also provides popularization course and conferences about marine life, aimed at resort guests, local islanders and marine biology apprentices.</p><br>
<h2>History</h2><br>
<p>Probably discovered during the Prehistory at the same time as the other islands of the Maldives, Landaa Giraavaru may have been inhabited in an intermittent way because of the low availability in fresh water, even if remains of sedentary occupation were found in the northeast of the island. This population probably migrated to the close island of Kamadhoo at the beginning of the 20th century to settle the present village there. Before the opening of the hotel, the island was only punctually inhabited by one Maldivian tribe, about 10-12 people. Who exploited the coconut and certain products of the sea thanks to a regular supply from Kudarikilu there. When Resort was opened, they were offered to stay in resort for lifetime. First man died in 2007 and left his name to the restaurant of the employees, Café Umarbe. Last Man died in 2014. He was also last member of tribe which occupited Landaa Giraavaru in 1900.</p><br>
<p>In November 2004, the island became home to the second Maldivian Resort of the luxury hotel management company Four Seasons, and now employs approximately 500 workers and covers the entire 178062 m of the island, although a wide part still remains covered by a dense and semi-wild tropical vegetation</p><br>

<p>The presence of the luxury resort Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru makes this site one of the numerous island resorts of the Maldives, and it consists of 103 villas on the shore of the beach on stilts over the lagoon, 8 restaurants and bars, a 3-acre Spa & Ayurvedic Retreat, a PADI 5-Star IDC Dive Centre, a Marine Discovery Centre, and many leisure and entertainment facilities, as well as a fleet of boats.</p><br>
<p>The access to the island from Malé and its international airport distant from about 130 kilometres is via a 35-minute seaplane flight, operated by Trans Maldivian Airways, from a seaplane platform in the Resort’s lagoon.</p><br>
<p>The Michael Reade House is a historic house at 43 Main Street in Dover, New Hampshire. Built about 1780 for a prominent local merchant, it is one of the city&#39;s few surviving 18th-century buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It now houses professional offices.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Michael Reade House stands on the southern fringe of Dover&#39;s central business district, on the east side of Main Street opposite the Cocheco Mills complex. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, with a side gable roof, central chimney, and clapboarded exterior. Its main facade is five bays wide, with the outer bays symmetrically placed and the center bay, where the entrance is located, skewed slightly to the left. The entry is flanked by sidelight windows and is sheltered by a mid-to-late 19th century Victorian bracketed hood. The interior follows a central chimney plan, but has an unusually wide chimney bay, suggestive of the idea that the chimney may have been built after the frame instead of before. There is fine Georgian-style wood paneling in the kitchen and southwest parlor, and transitional Federal woodwork in other rooms.</p><br>
<p>The house was built about 1780 for Michael Reade, an Irish immigrant who came to North America in 1741, and was one of Dover&#39;s leading merchants. The house is located near the historic Dover Landing area, where his ships would have docked. This area had a larger number of fine Georgian and Federal houses, most of which were demolished to make way for the mills and worker housing.</p><br>
<p>The Sawyer Building is a historic commercial building at 4-6 Portland Street in Dover, New Hampshire. The three-story brick structure was built in 1825, during Dovers period of economic prosperity following the establishment of its textile mills. It is one of Dovers oldest commercial buildings. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>The Sawyer Building occupies a prominent triangular lot bounded by Portland Street and Main Street in downtown Dover, and is also known locally as the Flatiron Building, after the triangular Flatiron Building in New York City. It is three stories in height, built out of brick set on a granite foundation. Its street-facing facade is curved at the street corner, and extends for a total of seventeen bays, five of which have entrances. The entrances are framed in granite, and windows have granite lintels. It is covered by a low-pitch hipped roof.</p><br>
<p>The building was erected in 1825, during Dovers early boom period as a cotton textile manufacturing center. Its location, known then as the Landing, was the commercial trading hub for the citys maritime cotton trade, which was one of the most extensive in the country in 1830. It is one of Dover&#39;s oldest surviving commercial buildings, and an excellent example of commercial Federal period architecture.</p><br>
<p>Rollinsford Town Hall is located at 667 Main Street in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. The two-story wood frame building was designed by New Hampshire architect Alvah T. Ramsdell, and built in 1893 to house a variety of municipal services, and an auditorium. The building, still housing municipal offices, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.</p><br>
<h2>Description and history</h2><br>
<p>Rollinsford Town Hall is located on the south side of Main Street, at its junction with 4th Street, a few blocks west of the heart of the town&#39;s business district. It is a 2-1/2 story wood frame structure, set on a high brick foundation. A four-story tower projects slightly from the northeast corner, capped by a pyramidal roof. Although the building has been clad in vinyl siding, some of its original Victorian trim is still in place, along the main roof eave and that of the tower. The main entrance is in the base of the tower facing north, sheltered by a gabled porch with round Ionic columns set on brick piers. The gable front is broken by a half-round lunette with spindles descending. Its first floor is occupied by offices, and its upper floor is taken up by an auditorium space with balcony and stage. The basement level, accessible from 4th Street, has a garage door opening which was originally used to house fire equipment.</p><br>
<p>The building was designed by Alvah Ramsdell, a regionally prominent architect, and was completed in 1893. It is the first of four similar town halls designed by Ramsdell; the others are found in Alton, Wakefield, and New Durham, and share a similarity of layout on the interior, and the presence of a corner tower.</p><br>
<p>This has been the towns only dedicated town hall. Established in 1849 by separation from Somersworth, the towns municipal functions were held in a variety of private spaces prior to the construction of this building.</p><br>
<p>Lenhart Farmhouse is a historic farmhouse located 1.5 miles south of the town of Monmouth on Piqua Road in Root Township, Adams County, Indiana. It was built about 1848, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.</p><br>
<p>The boundaries of the property include the historic Piqua Road, County Road 100E and the creek (Caffee Legal Drain) The 1.67-acre home site is located on a knoll overlooking an expansive field of rich river bottomland of the St. Marys River.</p><br>
<h2>Federal "I" house</h2><br>
<p>The primitive Federal I-house with Greek Revival details is a two-story masonry house with a gable roof and a rear masonry ell extension off of the west front room. On the east side of the ell was a 9 by porch. The porch was enclosed as a kitchen and a bedroom addition was built northeast side of the home between 1925 and 1931. Arnold Weidler who lived in the home during the construction provided this information to the author. The entire structure, both exterior and interior walls are of three brick thick common bond brick walls including a brick foundation and cellar. The structure prior to 1925 had only one timber-framed wall. That wall is the partition wall of the front foyer/stairwell, which divides the west front room from the foyer. In 1925 when the porch was enclosed the walls were framed with standard 2x4 wood studs 16 inches OC. The framed edition of 1925 was extended 8 feet in 1995 to meet the garage that was built on the property in 1993. The front elevation has 10 symmetrical openings on the first and second floors, five windows on the second story and two windows on each side of the front door. The lintels and sills are all limestone in the masonry structure. The replacement windows are six-over-six double hung units matching identically the original wood window intact in the east side of the masonry ell. This window in the east side of the masonry ell is one of six windows with rough-hewn wood lintels and sills. The other four are the attic windows. In addition are two small single pane cellar windows with two brick window wells. The three panel walnut front door has a three-pane transom ventilation window. The 7/12-pitched roof was originally shake shingles and is now finished in asphalt shingles with large flush end chimneys. The large wooden soffit has a massive decorative cornice that is consistent in size and presentation on the masonry walls as well as the wood framed walls on all elevations of the home. Common Bond is an arrangement of four to six stretcher courses between single header courses.</p><br>
<p>The west gable end of the "I" house and west side of the ell is one wall as indicated by the continuous brick pattern present from roof to foundation. This would indicate that the ell was integral part of the design and original construction. A cellar door is the only opening in the west gable end of the "I" house. The west portion of the ell has two openings a door and a window. The lintel and sill is limestone. The window is six-over-six double hung.</p><br>
<p>The north side of the home shows the masonry structure with a chimney and the framed porch enclosure and bedroom addition that was initiated in 1925 as well as the north gable side of the garage built in 1993. The large wooden soffit has a massive decorative cornice that is consistent in size and presentation on the masonry walls as well as the wood-framed walls on all elevations of the home. There are two windows that are vinyl-clad wood, with the sash being six-over-six double hung. The west side of the wood-framed bedroom addition from 1925 and garage from 1993 can be seen with 4-inch vinyl lap siding. One door opening exists in the north side of the framed area. An attic window opening is centered in the gable end of the north side of the garage.</p><br>
<p>The east view of the house shows the original masonry construction on the southeast portion of the structure as well as the framed bedroom addition initiated in 1925 and garage built in 1993 on the northeast portion with 4-inch vinyl lap siding. There are two openings in the home: a window opening and a door opening in the framed addition. The window is vinyl-clad wood with the sash being six-over-six double hung. The large wooden soffit has a massive decorative cornice that is consistent in size and presentation on the masonry walls as well as the wood-framed walls on all elevations of the home.</p><br>
<p>The interior of the Lenhart Farmhouse is a perfectly symmetrical Federal "I" House design with a central three-story walnut staircase and balustrade from the first floor to the attic. The east, west and ell room interior dimensions are 15 by. Typical finishes include plaster and simple woodwork. Chair rails are found throughout the first floor "I" House rooms. The ash floorboards are of irregular widths from 4 to 8 inches wide. The walnut mopboards and quarter round are simply stated finishes to the plank floors. The interior doors on the first floor are three-panel walnut, and the exterior doors are two-panel poplar structurally designed with wooden pegs. All door jams and trim are poplar. The east fireplace is intact, with a large unadorned walnut mantle with only simple moldings. The west fireplace has been bricked and plastered over; none of the mantle remains. From evidence of the craftsmanship and plaster, it is conjecture by the author that the east fireplace was covered at the time of the c. 1925 enclosure of the porch. A stove access in the ell room has been bricked and plastered and a stove removed from that room in 1991.</p><br>
<p>The walnut staircase and balustrade starts in the front hall with a heavy turned newel post that goes through the ash plank flooring secured onto a heavy rough hewn beam in the cellar ceiling. The staircase has four landings: one at the second and attic floors and two located between floors. Windows are located on two of the four landings providing bountiful light and a stunning view north and south of the property. The railing is carved in sections gracefully turning at each landing and finally ending in the attic. The attic flooring is of milled 1-inch oak up 18 inches in width. The floor and ceiling joists are all of milled oak 2 inches × 8 inches and 2 inches × 4 inches, respectively.</p><br>
<p>The porch that was enclosed in c. 1925 is a 9-foot × 18-foot kitchen. The 20 by bedroom addition of c. 1925 was renovated c. 1955 as a rear hall and full bath. The bath has an authentic c. 1918 Victorian claw and ball tub installed in 1998. In 1998 an 8-foot extension connected the home with the garage and a utility room, coat closet and half bath were added. The custom doors in the addition are all four-panel with custom milled trim sympathetic to the "I" house woodwork and mopboards.</p><br>
<p>The second-floor bedrooms symmetrically located on the east and west sides of the "I" house are identical in size and proportion, 15 by. They each have random-width plank floors. A dividing wall partition was added in 1991 providing symmetrical 5-foot × 15-foot closet area in each room and a full bath in the east room. The bath remodeled in 2012 with distressed cherry cabinetry and a claw tub. The two panel walnut doors, hardware and trim used for the closets were salvaged from a timber-framed home c. 1870 that was demolished on Winchester Road in Preble Township in Adams County in 1991.</p><br>
<p>The cellar floor was replaced in 1995. At that time it was determined that the brick walls were continuous foundation walls. A walnut cellar stair begin with a landing under the first-floor staircase near the kitchen and descends into the cellar. The last tread of the original cellar stair was removed due to water damage, and the remaining stringer was repaired with an oak stringer extension with oak risers and treads.</p><br>
<h2>Creek</h2><br>
<p>The creek was historically known as "Lenhart’s Run" as cited 1918 in the Adams County Commissioners records. The creek is a natural tributary of the St Marys River. The Native Americas called the river "Nameewa Siipiiwi" in the Myaamia language meaning, Sturgeon River. The proximity of the Lenhart Farm to the St. Marys River and Lenhart’s Run provided the rich agricultural soil. Historically this location was prized as "Bottomland of the first quality." The home sits on a knoll overlooking the watershed of the river. The dwelling site is located on what we now know as the 500-year flood plain. The creek is now known as "Caffee Legal Ditch."</p><br>
<h2>Native American trail that became Piqua Road</h2><br>
<p>Certainly one of the oldest roads in continuous use in Indiana, Piqua Road is thought to be a prehistory game trail around the "Great Black Swamp" of Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana. The trail is indicated on "Map of the Country about the Mississippi Drawn by Chegeree (Native American) who says he traveled through the country c. 1755. Size of the original hand drawn map is 16-1/4" x 13" and located at the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress in Washington DC. Other notable maps are Partie Occidentale de la Nouvelle France ou Canada 1755 and Neueste Karte Ohio 1845.</p><br>
<p>The Piqua Road follows the East Side of the St. Marys River for many miles. "It was an animal path. The animals instinctively followed the high ground and found the best route free of swamps and swales, sink holes and quicksand bottoms. Then, in time, it was used by the Indiana and when the white folks came there was a trail already made for them and the Piqua Road came into being." This route connected the Three River’s area of Fort Wayne, IN to an important area in Ohio called "Pickawillainy" that was a trading post or fort erected by traders in 1749.</p><br>
<p>A portion of Piqua Road was also known as the "Wayne Trace." This road was one of the routes of travel that supplied the troops garrisoned at Fort Wayne after General Anthony Wayne defeated the Myaamia (Miami) at the Battle of Fallen Timbers on August 20, 1794. The following year near Piqua, Ohio The Treaty of Greenville, regarded as one of the most important Native American treaties, was signed on August 3, 1795 between the United States and the Miami Confederacy.</p><br>
<p>In 1853 Samuel L. Rugg, simultaneously the Adams County Recorder and County Clerk and of Joseph D. Nuttman a prominent local businessman proposed building a 30-mile plank road through Adams County connecting Fort Wayne and Wilshire, OH. Therefore, the Fort Wayne and Piqua plank road was born. "There were certain specific specifications that must be adhered to. Some of which were that nothing but number one clear white oak plank should be used, without knot or knot holes, eight feet long, three inches thick and twelve inches in width, be laid side by side snugly and chummily. Stringers to be laid underneath and to be four by fours and of the same quality oak." This 16’ wide plank toll road served Adams County until about 1862. It had fallen into such disrepair that they discontinued collecting toll in 1866.</p><br>
<p>The origin of the name Piqua (pronounced Pe-quaw) comes from the "The Legend of Otath-he-wagh-Pe-Qua."</p><br>
<p>George C. Johnston, a trader for many years among the Indians and a member of the Shawnee tribe, explained the origin of the name Piqua. He was told by a member of the tribe, that many years ago the whole tribe was assembled at an annual feast and thanksgiving. They were all seated around a large fire, which having burned down to embers, a great puffing was observed in the ashes. Suddenly, a full-formed man sprang up from the remains of the fire and the tribe exclaimed in astonishment "Otaht-he-wagh-Pe-Qua." (He has come out of the ashes) And from that time, that place was called Piqua."</p><br>
<h2>Owners and property history</h2><br>
<p>A patent on this property was issued in 1836 from President Andrew Jackson of the United States Government to Benjamin Franklin Blossom of Van Wert County, Ohio. Benjamin Franklin Blossom was a young man of 16 years when he migrated West with his parents and siblings from Monmouth, Maine to east bank of the St. Marys River across from Wilshire, OH. in 1822. Fourteen years later at the age of 30, B.F. Blossom purchased the subject tract of land in Root Township in Adams County, IN. The Blossom family has a rich history in the European exploration and settlement of this country.</p><br>
<p>This family has a wonderful historic background, since the genealogy of this noble and patriotic family can be traced back to the Plymouth church at Leyden, Holland through the first known ancestor, Deacon Thomas Blossom (1580–1632) who was a leader of the above named church in Holland. The family is of purely English descent, having come from Plymouth, England at the time of the Pilgrim emigration to America. Thomas Blossom was on the Speedwell when she started out with the Mayflower in 1620. The Speedwell, however, sprang a leak and those on board were compelled to return to England. Later Thomas Blossom started again for America and landed on Plymouth Rock in 1629.</p><br>
<p>That the family has among their ancestors a lineal descendant from a Plymouth Pilgrim, Thomas Blossom, and a Captain of the Revolutionary War, James Blossom, is a highly prized distinction. They are connected with the early religious movements of this country and its educational history as well as the establishment of the American Independence and the preservation of the Republic during the days of the Civil War, the Spanish–American War and later the World Wars.</p><br>
<p>Captain James Blossom was a direct descendant in the fifth generation from Deacon Thomas Blossom and had a son by the name of Ansel Blossom. Ansel Blossom was born at Cape Cod, Kennebeck County, Maine, in 1778. While living in Maine Ansel taught school for a living. Ansel Blossom was married to Mercy Ladd in 1803. To this union were nine sons and two daughters. In 1822 he emigrated from Monmouth, Maine with his family to the West and entered and settled on a tract of land on the east bank of the St. Marys River across from Wilshire, OH. Ansel was a typical pioneer and faced the conditions, struggled with the difficulties, and endured the hardships of a new and undeveloped country. He filled his place in the rude society and served as the first Justice of the Peace in his new home bent his energies toward the improvement and raising of his family.</p><br>
<p>The third son of Ansel Blossom was Benjamin Franklin Blossom who was born in Maine in 1806 and died in Decatur, IN in 1875. In 1836 Benjamin Franklin Blossom at the age of 30 was issued the patent on the property in question which is located 1.5 miles from Monmouth, Indiana. There were subsequent sales and purchases by B. F. Blossom of several tracts of land in Root Township as documented in the Adams County Auditor&#39;s office. Clearly B. F. Blossom was instrumental in the settlement of Adams County Indiana which was founded in 1836 and it is conjecture of the officer that Benjamin Franklin Blossom named the oldest town in Adams County, Monmouth after Monmouth, Maine from whence his parents and siblings emigrated in 1822.</p><br>
<p>Monmouth, Indiana, is located in Root Township, Adams County Indiana and was laid out and the plat recorded on June 26, 1836. Benjamin Franklin Blossom served as the first elected School commissioner of Adams County in 1837 continuing in his fathers vocation and service to learning and education. It was the school commissioners responsibility to look after the common school revenues of the county and the examinations of the teachers as well as other duties. B. F. Blossom also served as Postmaster at Decatur from 1869 until his death in 1875.</p><br>
<p>On November 4, 1845, a warranty deed was recorded for the purchase of the tract of land in question from Benjamin Franklin Blossom to John Lenhard.</p><br>
<p>John and his wife Rebecca (Burl) moved their family to the property which was then in its wild state. They had ten children Lawson, John, Sarah, Peter, Catherine, Mary and Elizabeth (twins), Joseph, Ann and William. There were no improvements on the place and the family camped out two weeks beside a large oak log while a cabin was being built. It was made of round logs and scotched down on the inside, a puncheon floor, clapboard roof and a mud fireplace. They lived in this house a few years when John built the brick dwelling that is now standing on the site. John was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania of February 24, 1797 and died May 18, 1877 in Decatur at the age of eighty years and three months. John spelled his name "Lenhard" even though perhaps it was mispronounced and in some publications misspelled leading to some confusion. Clearly Mr. Lenhard maintained this spelling in his adult life. This is illustrated when at the age of 68 he ran a lost and found advertisement in the Decatur Eagle newspaper published on Friday September 1, 1865. The advertisement read: "LOST. On Monday the 28th ult, between the residence of Dr. Trout and my own in Root township, a large old style calf skin pocket book, containing $55 in national currency, $5 of which was an Indiana bill, besides a small amount of postage currency. There were also a few papers but I am under the impression that none of them contained my name and residence. A reward of $5 will be paid for the return of the pocket book and contents. JOHN LENHARD."</p><br>
<p>John and his wife Rebecca attended Alpha church and were buried in the Alpha cemetery two miles north of their home at the southwest corner of the intersection of county roads 100E and 900N. The Alpha church was a log structure built in 1840 and was the first church in the township. All remnants of the church are long since gone but Ted Fuller, the former owner of the property south of the churchyard, remembers the cornerstones that served as the foundation stones of the log structure near the center of the property. The headstone of the Lenhards is intact but in the end John and Rebecca were laid to rest with the name spelled "Lenhart" as their children and grandchildren spelled the name. Their resting-place and headstone can still be seen in the northwest corner of the rural cemetery near a great oak tree.</p><br>
<p>John Lenhart took a full share of the responsibilities and hardships that went with pioneering. Mr. Lenhart was an elected County Commissioner for three years 1842, 1843 and 1844. He was an upstanding member of the agricultural community and was listed as a prominent citizen who was on the roster of the 1854 Agricultural Members. This organization supported an agricultural fair that was successful until the Civil War and then was discontinued. His work ethic and high standards remain a legacy to the community. His prodigy continued in civil and public service; Joseph his son a veteran of the Civil war, and John Henry Lenhart his grandson a prominent attorney. John H. was eulogized by the Adams County Bar association: "Whereas it has pleased the Supreme Judge of the Universe to remove from our midst our brother, companion, and fellow citizen, John H. Lenhart, it is resolved that in his death we have sustained a loss which we deeply deplore. As an officer of this court for eight years he was honest, upright and had ever in his mind the duties and responsibilities of his trust. As an attorney of this bar since the 7th day of October 1898 he was ever faithful and true to his clientage. Discharging the duties of his calling to the best of his knowledge and ability. As a citizen he was ever kind and courteous, leading a pure and open life, always ready to lend a helping hand to the needy and poor." E. Burt Lenhart the son of John H. Lenhart was also an attorney being a member of the firm Hooper & Lenhart and became one of the organizers of the Decatur Abstract & Loan Company. E. Burt Lenhart’s biography in the Standard History of Adams and Wells Counties Indiana written by Tyndall and Lesh in 1918 clarifies the history of his great great grandfather John Lenhard’s name evolved from Lenhard to Lenhart when his children and grandchildren changed the spelling of the name.</p><br>
<p>John Lenhart built a model farm in the rough and undeveloped territory of Root Township. The following is quoted from the Abstract of Title concerning the real estate description for the purpose of the Lenhart Executor’s sale. "The undersigned would further state that the above land constitutes what is known as the Lenhart farm, on the North bank of the St. Marys River about a mile from Decatur. The farm has upon it a good brick dwelling, a good orchard, a frame barn, corncribs and other outbuildings. It has never failing springs, also a sand and gravel back upon it; also a stone quarry, in the bed of the river. This farm is mostly bottomland of the first quality."</p><br>
<p>Nimrod Dailey and his wife Rosannah purchased the property for $11, 500.00 and a mortgage was recorded on October 11, 1880. Mr. Dailey had the property for only six years until his death on February 5, 1886. At that time in 1886 Rosannah maintained ownership of the property but she and her three children, Anna M., Jesse D. and Mary O. moved from their farm to the city of Decatur. The children continued to own the property subsequent their mother’s death in January 1919. The last heir of the family to own the property was Nimrod’s grandson Harry Daniel Dailey and his wife Louise. The Dailey family owned the property for 83 years but for only six years did Nimrod Dailey and his family farm the property. The additional 77 years that the farm remained in the family the land and house was occupied by tenants. Dailey family eventually sold the house but kept the tillable acreage.</p><br>
<p>A tenant of the home was Fred Weidler, who rented the home from 1925 to 1931. It was between 1925 and 1931 that Fred Weidler enclosed the back porch of the original structure to use as a kitchen and built an addition to the house to serve as a bedroom. These facts were given to the author orally by Arnold Weidler the son of Fred Weidler who presented several photographs of the property which include an excellent photographic history of the brick structure, the bedroom addition. On the photographs are Arnold Weidler and his twin brothers Paul and Wilfred.</p><br>
<p>On October 7, 1963, John and Letha Hutchison purchased the brick home with approximately 6 acres on the north side of Piqua Road and a warranty deed was recorded in Adams County IN. The ownership of the home and 6-acre site was transferred again when a warranty deed was recorded February 13, 1968, to Clois D. and Winona F. Eichar and a mortgage was recorded in the amount of $4441.18. Neither of these owners significantly changed the brick home. However, during the ownership of the Eichers the remaining outbuildings on the home site fell into disrepair and they demolished them. A building that was destroyed was a well-known milk house built near the spring on the north side of the home. The spring water was run into the milk house and the continuous stream of cool water chilled the milk.</p><br>
<p>On July 20, 1991, J. K. Sheets O’Beirne purchased at the Eicher estate sale 1.67 acres which included the brick home, orchard and spring from the original homesite. The home had been unoccupied for several years and was in a distressed condition. O’Beirne was responsible for the delicate, sympathetic restoration of the historic home as a functional residence. Significant changes to the property or structure since 1991 include: garage built in 1993, replaced concrete floor in the cellar 1995, kitchen, bath, utility area extended 8’ to the garage in 1998 and horse stable built in 2000.</p><br>
<p>The Reither Spitze is a mountain in the Karwendel in the Austrian federal state of Tyrol that, thanks to its location at the southwestern end of the Erlspitze Group, is particularly well known for its great views of the surrounding area from its summit. Its name is derived the village of Reith bei Seefeld, which lies at its southwestern foot.</p><br>
<p>The Schlossbach, a tributary of the River Inn, rises on the mountainside.</p><br>
<h2>Ascent</h2><br>
<p>The summit of the Reither Spitze may be reached in a 20-minute climb from the Nördlinger Hut to the south. The Nördlinger Hut is an hour&#39;s walk from the top station of the cable car on the Härmelekopf; from the Härmelekopf one can also ascend the Reither Spitze directly via the Reither Joch (sure-footedness required). An ascent from Reith bei Seefeld or Seefeld takes about three hours. From the Seefelder Spitze, the Reither Spitze may be reached on an easy path (sure-footedness required) or directly along the connecting arête, a routed graded at UIAA level III difficulty.</p><br>
<h2>Geology</h2><br>
<p>The summit of the Reither Spitze and the arête of the Seefelder Spitze are made of main dolomite rock. This zone of the upper main dolomite is surrounded by a ring-shaped zone of oil-bearing and partly fossil-bearing Seefeld beds. As a result of fish fossils, the oil-bearing slate from this region is also called Ichthyol Slate after the Old Greek word for fish, ichthys (ἰχθύς). These rocks were quarried in various places around the Reither Spitze for the extraction of Ichthyol. The main quarry area was at the foot of the Reither Spitze southeast of Seefeld in the area of the Reither Jochalm.</p><br>
